Lauri Nelson, Ph.D.
Dr. Lauri Nelson is an Assistant Professor in the Dept of Communicative Disorders and Deaf Education. She provides advising and clinical supervision to graduate students in the Auditory Learning and Spoken Language program. Dr. Nelson worked in Clinical Audiology for nearly 20 years, including as a cochlear implant programming audiologist at Primary Children's Medical Center and a Clinical Research Scientist at Advanced Bionics Corporation. She also obtained a teaching license and degree in deaf education and has worked as an itinerant teacher and an aural habilitation specialist. With a dual background in clinical audiology and deaf education, USU/Sound Beginnings is a wonderful opportunity for her to combine her hearing technology experiences with her love of working with children who are deaf or hard of hearing. Dr. Nelson is a Utah native and lives in Davis County. She and her husband are the proud parents of four sons and three dogs. Her family enjoys football, skiing, riding motorcycles, and any event that includes food.
